Northrop Grumman's Everett Jordan to Assume Operational Responsibilities for The Apprentice School

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Jan. 27, 2010 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has appointed Everett Jordan Jr. as director of training to assume operational responsibilities of Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding’s Apprentice School. He reports to Danny Hunley, vice president of operations for the company’s Shipbuilding sector in Newport News, Va.

Jordan is responsible for ensuring that qualified candidates are selected for the 90-year old apprentice program, that academic curriculum and craft training delivery are relevant, and that each apprentice is developed into a proven and accomplished leader in the art and science of shipbuilding.

 “Everett brings over 36 years of shipbuilding knowledge and experience to this position,” Hunley said. “He is the eighth director of The Apprentice School but the first to have graduated from the school.  He will provide significant contributions to the continued success of the sector and The Apprentice School.”

He joined Newport News in 1973 as a shipfitter apprentice and has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility including foreman, general foreman, section superintendent, trades manager, and trades director.  He is currently on the workforce development team with several local community colleges and serves on the board of Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Va.

Jordan is a 1977 graduate of the Apprentice School.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Leo University and a master’s degree in education from The George Washington University. He currently resides in Poquoson, Va.
